Omni Strategic Technologies made its debut in a big way June 17, with two offices in West Virginia, at Wheeling and Charleston, and one in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Omni is a combination of three previously well-known technology service providers in the region: merging ContactPointe IT Services, HGO Technology and Terradon Communications Group.

“The unique strengths of three very successful IT solution firms into one integrated, end-to-end IT solution provider will improve business performance — we hope will be a game changer in our area,” said David H. McKinley, chairman of the board. “While they were similar companies, they each bring something complimentary to the others. We felt that there was a better way to do this, more than what had existed.

“We noticed a gap in this region’s IT consulting and solution community,” he added. “No one was really looking at technology from a business performance angle.”

Each brought its own area of expertise to the table, according to McKinley.

  • HGO: IT engineering and projects;
  • Terradon: web design and development; and
  • ContactPointe: managed services and training.

By combining these assets, Omni offers services in five areas: Strategic advisory services, infrastructure technology services, managed services, hosted services and web design/development.

“This merger brings the ability to offer better end services,” said Jim Whitecotton, project manager. “We will help grow business and be a lifeline for problem solving. We want to be the premier provider in the state and region.”

Steve Smith, chief information officer for Omni, said the group is delivering outcome, not just selling technology.

“We can apply technology as business accelerates,” Smith said. “The big part is our training component.”

With its three locations, Omni seeks to serve the region’s small and mid-sized organization in various fields.

“We have particular strengths in working with clients in professional services, education, state and local government, healthcare and tourism,” said Nina Shell, director of business development.

Omni’s website launched June 17 as well, at omniperforms.com.
