Man discovers possible human remains on Charleston's West Side
CHARLESTON, WV -
A man who was cleaning up some property early Monday morning made a surprising discovery on Charleston's West Side. Brian Smith was cleaning up a lot on West Washington Street.
He said he was expecting to find something interesting, but was not prepared for finding what he believes to be human remains. He told 13 News that he's a little shaken up from finding some hair with some duct tape on it. His find also included a scapula, a finger bone and a tibia with stockings still around it.
Smith believes the remains to be from a female. He said if they're determined to be human, he hopes his find will help bring peace to a grieving family. "I just hope in my heart they can identify this person and put to ease somebody's suffering, somebody's pain and give some closure to some family," said Smith.
Charleston Police took the bones into custody for further investigation.
