Arrest made following robbery in Portsmouth, OH

 One man is facing a felony charge following a robbery at an Ohio convenience store.

According to a news release from the Portsmouth Police Department, Jonathan D. Spears, 22, of Portsmouth, Ohio was arrested Tuesday, July 22 on an aggravated robbery charge.

The robbery occurred early in the morning on July 20, 2014 at Superquick in Portsmouth.  An employee reported a white male had entered the store with something covering his face and demanded money from the cash register while pointing a handgun at her.

Evidence recovered in the investigation following the robbery led police to Spears, according to Portsmouth Police Operations Captain Lynn Brewer.

Spears was taken to the Portsmouth Police Department and charged with aggravated robbery, a felony.  He was then taken to Scioto County Jail.  His arraignment in Portsmouth Municipal Court is set for Wednesday, July 23.

The case will be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury, where additional charges may be filed.
