Thunderstorms are in the forecast today. This afternoon a cold front will move in from the northwest and the humidity combined with the heat ahead of the front will produce thunderstorms. One or two of these thunderstorms might briefly make it to severe limits with some gusty winds. Winds of 30-40mph will be standard with a few of these storms along with brief, heavy rain and frequent lightning.
The Timeline: NOON: Showers start to develop. 3 PM: Spotty thunderstorms. 5 PM: Scattered thunderstorms, one or two of these could be strong. 7 PM: Storms continue 9 PM: Storms start to taper off. Overnight: Partly cloudy and humid.
FRIDAY: We're expecting more storms, possibly more numerous, on Friday. These storms along with the showers on Saturday will produce heavy rain with some rain totals of 1 to 1.5".
