A Belle, WV man previously convicted of a felony has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for having 80 guns in his possession.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said Dorsey Woolwine Jr., 63, had admitted in January to being a felon in possession of firearms.

Agents with the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team searched Woolwine’s residence on Simmons Creek Road in March 2012, seizing 29 guns, including a sawed-off rifle. Then, in May, state troopers searched his home and found 52 more guns plus methamphetamine and scales.

Two of the guns had been reported stolen, Goodwin said.

Woolwine told police he’d been selling meth from his home for about six years, Goodwin said.

MDENT and the West Virginia State Police conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Hanks handled the prosecution. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr.
