Logan County, WV nurse arrested for possession, prescription fraud
A nurse employed by Logan Regional Medical Center was arrested after being stopped by police in Logan County, West Virginia.
According to the Southwestern Regional Jail, 59-year-old Dennis Mullins, of Chapmanville, WV, was arrested for possession with intent to deliver and prescription fraud.
According to a criminal complaint issued by the Logan County Magistrate Court, Mullins was stopped by police in the Holden area on County Road 18 for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. The complaint says that police found that Mullins had criminal and deceptive behavior, and asked him if there was anything in the vehicle. Mullins told police he had a loaded firearm, as well as a Thomas Memorial Hospital bag.
The complaint goes on to say that police filled out a vehicle consent form with Mullins, and upon searching the vehicle, they found 12 viles of a liquid. Mullins told police it was Morphine. Police also found several medical items inside the vehicle.
Mullins told police in a recorded statement that he did not have permission to take Morphine from the Logan Regional Medical Center, and that he delivered the Morphine and medical supplies to a woman in the Cora area.
Mullins is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
