The American Farmland Trust released the list for the top 100 Farmers Markets and Morgantown, WV cracked the top 25.
The Morgantown Farmers Market came in at number 11, and organizers say they are proud of such a high ranking.
"I expected us to be closer to the 50 mark, but I was looking for our number, and I just kept going up and up the list," said Lisa Lagana, farmers market manager.
About 3,500 people visit this farmers market each weekend. There are about 40 vendors in total. Some are at the market each weekend, and some come at particular times during the season.
It's not just a place where people can buy fruits and vegetables. Lagana said it's a great social environment as well.
"We kind of act like an event every single weekend," she said. "Not quite a festival, but definitely an event that people love to attend. It's definitely a way for people who've had a very long week, a very long work week, to come and have a nice social interaction every single weekend."
Rankings are calculated by the number of pledges each market receives. Customers can go online each week and vote for the farmers market they would like to support.
Lagana said she feels that this market in particular is so successful simply because the Morgantown community loves to support the local economy.
Morgantown Farmers Market will continue to be open every Saturday through the first week in November.
