It's a tough schedule, but school bus operator Sammy Bounds in Kanawha County says the most difficult part of the job is maneuvering through West Virginia's windy roads.
"Most of our roads are in the country around here," says Bounds. "Most of our runs start in the dark so you can't go very fast you have to go slow."
To ensure the safety of our children Bounds and all other operators go through a thorough checklist before the rubber meets the road, checking everything from lug nuts to hand rails.
Those behind the wheel stress that safety always comes first. Bounds says "kids will be kids," but it's best if the children stay in their seat and try to keep it down so he can pay attention to the road and other motorists.
