On Wednesday, August 13th, troopers with the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police found 54-year old Kathy Jones Anderson shot to death in her Letart home.
Now, the search is on for her estranged husband, Charles Anderson. He has not been named as a suspect in the murder, but he is needed for questioning.
We talked with neighbors and citizens that knew the family, and they say they just can't believe that Charles Anderson may be responsible.
"He's quiet, he talks, he jokes with ya. It's just very surprising. Very surprising" says Letart citizen Mark Miller. He works at a small local grocery store that Charles Anderson used to frequent.
Neighbors who did not wish to speak on camera told us that the couple were great people and loved helping the community, but they knew the two had been split up for about a month.
According to those living close by, Kathy Jones Anderson stayed in the home and Charles Anderson had moved out. They also told us that they didn't notice anything that would make them think someone was in danger.
While neighbors and friends say Charles Anderson was a wonderful person, West Virginia State Police say he is considered to be armed and dangerous.
"We don't know much about him and we don't know his emotional state. We do know that his wife was murdered with a firearm and that firearm has not been accounted for. We do need to talk to him and given those facts he should not be approached if someone from the public were to see him" says Lt. Michael Baylous with WVSP.
If you know where Charles Anderson is or if you see him, please call your local WVSP Detachment or call 911.
We will keep you updated as more on this situation develops.
