A Huntington, West Virginia man facing felony sexual abuse charges was in court Thursday, August 28.
24-year-old Matthew Browning was in Magistrate McCallister's courtroom Thursday for his preliminary hearing.
Browning is accused of sexually abusing a child from January to June of this year. His case was continued for 30 days Thursday and then it will be bound over to the grand jury.
According to a criminal complaint, the mother of the child called authorities after the girl told her that Browning touched her. The child also drew a picture of the alleged abuse for her grandmother. Investigators said the alleged abuse happened between January and June of 2014.
Browning was arrested and confessed that he abused the child on at least two occasions, troopers said. There is no word on whether Browning will face any additional charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
A Huntington, West Virginia man is facing several counts of sexual abuse after an investigation by the West Virginia State Police (WVSP).
Matthew D. Browning, 24, was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual abuse by a parent and three counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, according to a release from the WVSP.
An investigation into the abuse started in June of this year. Over the course of the investigation police developed probable cause to arrest Browning.
Browning was arraigned and taken to the Western Regional Jail.
