Police say they have received a credible tip that the suspect in the bank robbery was spotted near Freedom Homes on Charleston Road (Route 21).
They are searching the area and it is best to avoid the area.
Police say the have reason to believe that suspect in the Premier Bank robbery is still in the Ripley, West Virginia area. They have renewed their search efforts.
A bank robbery was reported in Ripley, West Virginia.
Several police forces responded to the area.
The robbery happened at a Premier Bank located on Church Street at about 11:20 a.m.
No one was injured.
According to the WVSP Facebook page, the suspect is a man dressed in black clothing carrying a tan bag. That same post says the man was armed with a handgun.
Witnesses reported seeing the man running south along Route 21. Police quickly blocked off that road as well as Cedar Lakes. The roads have since reopened.
Police called off their pursuit Thursday night, however, they will resume the search Friday, August 22.
Local schools were locked down Thursday afternoon as a precaution. Students were released from class about 10 minutes earlier than normal. School buses were given a police escort. However, schools are expected to run on normal schedules Friday.
