Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced on Friday, May 29th that a man has been indicted on several charges for running a cattle-rustling scheme in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia. The man allegedly purchased over $30,000 worth of livestock and vehicles using fraudulent checks and falsified documents.

28-year-old Brandon White, of Lucasville, was indicted on 15 counts according to a news release.

White was charged with five counts of theft by deception, two counts of money laundering, three counts of tampering with records, fourth-degree theft of an elderly person, third-degree theft of an elderly person, grand theft and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. The news release also says that White is accused of using fraudulent checks to purchase cattle advertised for sale on Craigslist.

When White picked up the animals, he often used a false alias and paid the victim using a check drawn on an account that did not belong to him and had insufficient funds. White then sold the cattle quickly before the checks would bounce.

White is currently being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.
