More than 1.2 million Walmart and Sam's Club workers are set to get a raise on Saturday.
The workers will receive a pay increase under the second phase of the company’s two-year, $2.7 billion investment in workers.
The raise means workers making $9 will now make $10 an hour, all new-hires will move from $9 to $10 an hour after a six-month training, and wages will rise for more than 100,000 store managers.
The raise will be one of the largest single-day, private-sector pay increases ever.
The company will also now free short-term disability to full-time workers and will allow employees to earn paid time off.
