Update: Man faces charges after hitting students getting off of the bus

Update 10:11 p.m. 3/7/2016

West Virginia State Police Trooper Daniel Curry tells 13 News log truck driver Johnathan Pack had his brakes malfunction when his truck hit two kids getting off the school bus and a white van. A person in the white van was also injured.

Curry said the person in the white van and the two students suffered minor injuries. 

Pack will be facing charges for passing a school bus and failure to maintain control. He was also cited for having defected brakes.  

Update 6:35 p.m. 3/7/2016

EMS on the scene tell 13 News the two children injured have non-life threatening injuries. One student is a 10-year-old girl and the other student is a 15-year-old-boy.

Wayne County 911 dispatchers confirmed two kids were hit by a tractor trailer while getting off of the school bus this afternoon.

According to dispatchers the accident occurred off of Route 152 in Wayne County, WV.

West Virginia State Police Troopers have also confirmed the accident and are on scene now.

The Lavalette Fire Department is also on the scene according to Michael Baylous of the WVSP.

The condition of the students is not known at this time, but they were taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
