A large quantity of marijuana plants was discovered Tuesday in an isolated area of Harrison County.
According to the Bridgeport Police Department, 160 "unusually large and well-maintained" marijuana plants, which have a street value of $320,000, were destroyed after an investigation led authorities to the grow.
The grow was discovered by the Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force. The task force was investigating information received by Stonewood Police Chief Robert Matheny.
It took officers several hours to cut down the plants and move them to a location for processing, police said. Samples of the plant were taken for evidence and possible future prosecution of individual(s) responsible for the grow. The scene was processed, and additional evidence was identified and collected.
