The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department has released the identity of the skeletal remains found on November 18th, 2016.

Detectives confirmed that Tamela Simpson, 34, of Cheshire, OH was found near the riverbank near a coal temple in Ironton during the evening.

She had been reported missing on March 14th, 2016.

Gallia County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. It is unknown whether any suspicious activity is being considered.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office and Ironton Police are investigating skeletal remains found Friday afternoon in Lawrence County, Ohio.

The remains were found by a gentleman and his grandson walking along the riverbank of the 3600 block of South 3rd Street near a coal temple in Ironton around 5:30 p.m. Friday. 

According to Detective Ross of the Ironton Police Department, the remains are believed to be 6-8 months old. No clothing or any other identifiable remains were found besides the skeletal remains found. 

Detectives, along with police, do believe that they may have enough DNA and dental records to make an identification at a later date.

Detective Ross says if anyone has any information on these remains found to call him at 740-532-5606.
